First off, I haven't read on bungie HOW to open your NAT, but chances are they aren't as good as it as I may think, but I am going to go in depth with how to do it.

DMZ Hosting

DMZ Hosting opens ALL ports on a given device. Similar to portforwarding, but opens ALL ports. Not advised for use on a computer.

First, this is only for those who go through a MODEM and a ROUTER. You need to access your router first, but must know your modem's IP Address (internal). portforward.com will give you your router's default IP Address. Now, if you don't know your modem's IP Address, try 192.168.0.1. If that doesn't work, then plug your computer directly into your modem and go to Start > Run > (type) cmd > (type) ipconfig/all

Plug the 'default gateway' into your browser (internet explorer, opera, firefox, safari) and you will get into your MODEM. But that is for later.

Let's still assume that your modem is 192.168.0.1, it will assign an IP Address to EVERY device connected to it (DHCP Server), this means your router has an automatic IP. Now, go to your router, use portforward.com, the command prompt way, or use one of the following numbers (use this method FIRST)... possible numbers - 192.168.1.1 10.0.0.1

Now, the username/password are (possibly) on of the following:

admin/password
admin/admin
admin/(nothing)

Once you get in, choose Static IP for your router. Your ip should contain the first three sets of numbers from the modem's IP and the last part a sequential number for the last part... so 192.168.0.6 would be an example. The default gateway will be your modem's IP. The subnet mask is MOST OF THE TIME, 255.255.255.0 and the DNS Servers are the numbers from the command prompt's DNS Servers. BAM! Your router is now Static and ready to be forwarded. While still in your router, DMZ Host your Xbox 360. If you don't know how, follow the guide on portforward.com

Now, go into your modem, DMZ Host your router's new Static IP, and BAM! Fully forwarded.

Why did I post this?
-because I am on satellite internet and cannot, so I cannot connect to a good amount of people on Xbox Live.

Yes, I got bored typing this so if it got a little vague, IM me on AIM at ThaggleS and I will help/answer any questions.

If this is in the wrong forum, oh well... Bungie, if you wanna update your router page with this info, then please give me and ThuggleS credit for this.

If bungie.net/router has this info, delete this thread, but I don't think it does.

Why do you need to DMZ Host your router and not just forward/DMZ your Xbox through your modem only?
-Simple, without breaking any windows/doors, if the door to your room is open inside your house, but the doors leading INTO the house are locked/closed, can you get to your room? No. Simple as that.

Any questions? IM me or post here. I will check this thread often.

To Static IP your Xbox 360, go to the dashboard, all the way left, network settings. there you will be given an option to choose IP Address as automatic or manual... choose manual, and make the first three sets of numbers the same as the router's IP, and change the end to something like 108 or something. Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0 Default gateway - Router's IP DNS Servers - Same as command prompt's "ipconfig/all" trick.

You will need to do IP Address THEN DNS on the dashboard... you will fail the first time, just go back and make DNS Manual too.
